In Christianity, the Passion is the short final period in the life of Jesus covering his entrance visit to Jerusalem and leading to his crucifixion on Mount Calvary. In this worship service, the events of the Passion story will be commemorated with the presentation of Calvary’s Mountain by John Leavitt. The cantata is a beautiful contemporary setting of American Folk Hymns and an American Spiritual for choir and orchestra. Because the hymns are well known the congregation will find it meaningful to join in singing on several verses.
The hymns include:
What Wondrous Love is This
Alas! And Did My Savior Bleed
Jesus Died on Calvary’ Mountain
Were You There
Calvary's Mountain will be presented as part as part of regular worship at 9:00AM and 11:00AM.
